The Asia Software Testing (ASTA) was established by five ISTQB National Boards: CSTQB (China), JSTQB (Japan), KSTQB (Korea), MSTB (Malaysia), and VTB (Vietnam).
The inaugural ASTA event, the 1st ASTA International Conference was held in Seoul, Korea.
ASTA actively fostered regional collaboration through a series of key events and meetings across Asia.

03By 2010, ASTA's activities had slowed down as many of its key members became increasingly occupied with other industry commitments. This period marked the end of ASTA's initial phase. After nearly 15 years of inactivity, discussions began about reviving ASTA, driven by a shared interest among those who remembered its history.
The CSTQB (China), JSTQB (Japan), and KSTQB (Korea) Boards agreed to reform ASTA, with the Indonesian Board (IDSTB) expressing interest in joining. KSTQB spearheaded efforts to reconnect with former ASTA members, including CSTQB, JSTQB, MSTB, and VTB. All relevant historical documents were shared with these boards, including, IDSTB.
